Shaoxi: at ease! - Cavazzuti at the Cassero

Rest! China 1981-1984

76 black and white photos by Andrea Cavazzuti, one of the most important photojournalists and documentary filmmakers with 40 years of experience in China.
The photo-exhibition tells the story of the end of the period of isolation and the opening to the world following the policies of Deng Xiao Ping, collecting the testimony of the years in which this was happening.
Testimony collected by (at the time) a young photographer who had already worked with one of the great masters of photography in Italy (participating in “Viaggio in Italia” by Luigi Ghirri) and who went to China for the first time in 1981. Shots of a China that was unknown in Europe at the time (a little less so in the United States), a virgin territory free from any label, prejudice. Precious documents of the reappearance as a protagonist in the world of a country whose inventions have changed the history of humanity.

By visiting the exhibition you will have the opportunity to discover the beautiful medieval corridor of the Cassero that once connected the city walls to the Emperor's Castle.
