Ardengo Soffici Museum The charm of 20th century Italian art in the heart of the Medici Stables
The Ardengo Soffici Museum, located in the evocative Medici Stables, is an exhibition and research centre dedicated to the renowned painter, writer, poet and literary critic Ardengo Soffici. This great artist has left an indelible mark on the Italian and international cultural panorama, going through the different phases of Europe's stylistic and social evolution during the 20th century.
The exhibition itinerary presents over fifty works of art from public and private collections, offering a complete overview of Soffici's work, from 1904 to the Sixties. Visitors will have the opportunity to follow the entire creative span of this artist with European roots, underlining the importance of his strong connection with his land.
Born in Rignano sull'Arno and adopted by Poggio a Caiano, Soffici drew inspiration from the majesty of the natural and human landscape, identifying completely with the town that hosted him. His works reflect the rolling hills, streets, fields and houses of Poggio, capturing the very essence of Soffici's work. Furthermore, the museum displays family affections and cubo-futurist style works, further enriching the collection.
