The work "Isla Negra to Pablo Neruda" represents a significant homage by the artist Giò Pomodoro to Pablo Neruda. As stated by Pomodoro himself, the intent was to create a "torn, twisted and precarious window" that enclosed the landscape in a sort of vice, but which nevertheless remained standing, symbol of a project that did not allow itself to be annihilated .

This house, called Isla Negra, was tragically destroyed together with the poet during the Chilean tragedy of 1973. Giò Pomodoro dedicated this work to Neruda, after having meditated on it for a long time during the three years of work necessary for its realization.

Made of Trani stone, the work was purchased by the Municipality of Prato on the occasion of the Pomodoro exhibition at the Emperor's Castle in 1976. After, it was placed in its current position during the "Prato espone '79" exhibition in the garden of via Carlo Marx. This extraordinary artistic masterpiece represents an important point of reference in Prato's cultural scenery, inviting visitors to reflect on the complexity of life and art.
