Welcome to the enchanting Palazzo Pretorio Museum, where an exciting adventure awaits you to discover the precious artistic wonders of Prato!

On the ground floor you will enter a world of history and beauty. On the first floor, admire the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries with masterpieces by Filippo Lippi and the Officina pratese, testimonies of the Renaissance in all its grandeur. You can explore the Court hall with its frescoed walls and wooden ceilings, where the wonderful wooden polyptychs by artists such as Giovanni da Milano, Pietro di Miniato and Lorenzo Monaco are exhibited. You will also find works by Filippo Lippi, including the famous Madonna del Ceppo from 1453 and other precious works with a Marian theme.

Continuing, you will encounter works by Donatello, Andrea della Robbia, Benedetto da Maiano and Benedetto Buglioni, up to the enchanting Tabernacle by Filippino Lippi from 1498, a delicate representation of the Virgin with Child and angels, dating back to the Renaissance period.

The magnificence continues on the second floor, with surprising works from the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries that tell stories of talent and mastery. And on the third floor, you will be enchanted by the masterpieces of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with the extraordinary art of Bartolini dominating the scene. Here, you will be surrounded by Alessandro Franchi's spectacular preparatory cartoons and you will be able to admire works by artists such as Soffici, Ives Klein, Pistoletto and Lipchitz.

The Museum is housed inside an imposing medieval structure, the palace of the same name, among the most beautiful in Central Italy. Its oldest part in red brick preserves the original structure of the thirteenth-century tower house, while the part in light Alberese stone, with large mullioned windows and a tabernacle, was added in the fourteenth century. The crenellated crowning and the bell tower date back to the 16th century. The façade is enriched by the various coats of arms of the families of mayors and vicars who have succeeded one another over the centuries.
