Prato is the protagonist of an important European initiative thanks to the Experience Prato Industrial Culture (Epic) project, which was selected as part of the European Urban Initiative call. As the lead partner together with nine other partners, the city of Prato has obtained funding of 5 million euros to invest in industrial tourism over the next four years. This project represents a new and extraordinary opportunity to enrich and enhance the experience of TIPO – Industrial Tourism Prato, which since 2021 has become a fundamental part of the city's tourist offer.

Epic aims to enhance our industrial heritage as a key resource to attract visitors, offering a unique experience that allows you to explore industrial sites and discover the history and evolution of the companies that still operate in the district. The project embraces a concept of "endless tourism", which extends in time and space, combining physical experiences with digital and virtual ones. In this way, the visitor will be able to live an engaging experience before, during and after the visit, both inside and outside the city.

The initiative foresees a strong involvement of local stakeholders, through a participatory co-planning process, with thematic meetings to develop new ideas, events and actions that will be tested directly in the field. In addition, a digital marketing strategy will accompany the project to promote Prato as a sustainable, inclusive and innovative city, with itineraries and tourist experiences that will be published on the main international tourist platforms.

Epic is a great opportunity to further grow industrial tourism in Prato, consolidating the reputation of the city and the district as a unique destination at a national and European level. Thanks to this project, we could involve even more partners and stakeholders, and promote our city more effectively, combining tradition and innovation.
