Nature Reserve of Acquerino Cantagallo A sanctuary of extraordinary beauty immersed in the uncontaminated nature of the Apennines
The Acquerino Cantagallo Nature Reserve gives you a unique experience in the uncontaminated context of the Apennines with its wild beauty.
Immersed in an atmosphere of extraordinary beauty, this protected natural reserve extends for 1.867 hectares, offering a true sanctuary of uncontaminated nature. Here, you will have the opportunity to have close encounters with the fascinating inhabitants of the forest. The area is surrounded by dense forests of beech and chestnut trees, dotted with nuclei of conifers and large expanses of prairies, where imposing monumental plants stand out and deserve to be admired. Among these, we cannot fail to mention the remains of the centuries-old big Beech tree of Luogomano and the majestic Brandiglianone of Cave.
It is right here, at the confluence between the Barbe ditch and the Trogola ditch, that the sources of the Bisenzio river arise. The territory is crossed by numerous crystalline streams, which retain their integrity and are home to species of significant naturalistic interest, such as the fire salamander and the spectacled salamander, as well as a large variety of fish.
The Reserve boasts a great faunal diversity, with the important presence of deer, fallow deer, roe deer and wild boars. Not least are the presence of the wolf and the wild cat, species now rare in other Italian forests.
Get ready to live an unforgettable experience, in which you will be surrounded by the magic of nature and will be able to admire fascinating creatures in a pristine context. The Acquerino Cantagallo Nature Reserve awaits you to discover the wild beauty of the Apennines.
